Hat's off to one of the most deserving Australian Government 'Prize for Science' award winner- CSIRO electrical engineer John O'Sullivan.

Does his name ring a bell? Perhaps not but it should John O'Sullivan is the man that invented WiFi which as everybody knows is the ability for all of us around the world to use devices to wirelessly transmit data.

And until recently many of the worlds biggest technology companies including Hewlett-Packard, Intel, Deli, Toshiba, Asus, Net-gear, Belkin, SMC, Accton, 3-Com

and Buffalo, along with Microsoft and Nintendo were using this invention without paying royalties to the CSIRO (Australian Government Research Body).

But that all changed recently in an out of court settlement down-payment of  $220 million dollars for licensing this great Australian technology invention. Yet the man who invented receives not one cent in royalties as he was working for the government body. The CSIRO is now using the $220 million to seed more research projects.

Congratulation John O'Sullivan everybody at Webtron salutes you.
